All of our products
are hand made and environmentally friendly. There is no recycling
process in Kampala, so all of our recycled fibres are donation
from various offices, such as the Irish Embassy, The Uganda Tourism
Bureau and others.
Paper making is a concept
based on linking fibbers together by hydrogen bonding, using
water as the catalyst agent. We do not use any chemicals, other
than recycling our stove ashes. Every part of a process
is as simple as it gets:
- Cutting and tearing
of the fibres/recycled paper
- Cooking and washing
the fibres
- Blending of the
fibres to transform them into pulp
- Diluting the
pulp down and putting it in big basins for lifting
- Lifting the pulp
onto the screens, covered with mosquito nets and let them dry
on drying racks (this is the ACTUAL PAPER MAKING process and
is all handmade step)
- Removing the
sheets from the screen and pressing them in between metal plates
in the press (pressure obtained from a 30 tone truck jack)
- The sheets are
finished and ready to be transformed into our products.
